Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer

TPC Packaging Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls & Automation Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of innovative automation and robotic solutions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with a passion for problem-solving, industrial automation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define electrical requirements and specifications for robotic systems to deliver automation projects on time.
Design and develop electrical systems, including motor control, power distribution, and sensor integration, for automated manufacturing equipment and robotic platforms.
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and supporting documentation using CAD software.
Integrate sensors, drives, robotics, and other automation technologies into new and existing manufacturing processes.
Lead testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electrical components and systems.
Analyze system performance and troubleshoot, program, and optimize PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, and automation systems to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall operational performance.
Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends in robotics, controls, and industrial automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
7+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, controls engineering, or related fields.
Proven experience in robotics and automation, with a focus on electrical system design and integration. Experience with FANUC robot programming a plus.
Proficiency with PLC programming and controls platforms, including Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and Connected Components Workbench (CCW).
Experience with electrical schematic design software such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SkyCAD, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of control systems, motor controls, AC/DC drives, VFDs, sensors, signal processing, and data acquisition.
Experience with HMI development and visualization software, preferably Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk.
Working knowledge of industrial safety systems, including safety relays, light curtains, dual-channel safety circuits, and machine safety standards.
Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or other automation-related languages is preferred.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a strong attention to detail.
